I've just posted an announcement on my blog about OFBiz-related things
at OSCON in July (). For convenience I'm copying the contents of it
here:
===============================
O'Reilly OSCON 2009 is taking place in San Jose, CA, USA on the 20-24
July 2009. For details on the conference see:
http://en.oreilly.com/oscon2009
Apache OFBiz is participating in the conference as a community
sponsor. Please come join us at booth T24. The booth will be manned by
OFBiz contributors that attend the conference. In addition to myself
we can get passes for 5 people to help staff the booth.
Another OFBiz-related thing at the conference is the presentation I
will be giving on Thursday the 23rd at 2:35 PM. The title of the
presentation is "Apache's Open For Business: Holistic Analysis and
Design." For more details about the presentation please see the
schedule here:
http://en.oreilly.com/oscon2009/public/schedule/detail/7453
I look forward to seeing everyone there and enjoying some conversation
and collaboration during a bit of the Northern California Summer.
===============================
The next step (as you probably guessed from reading the above!) is to
get some volunteers for the booth. We can have up to 5 people, and to
help keep the booth manned I'd like to have a full 5 people involved.
Each person will receive a exhibit staff pass to the show floor. One
of the 5 will also get a pass to attend conference sessions, so if you
are also interested in that please let me know (if there is too much
interest we'll have to have a PMC vote in order to decide who gets it!).
For those who attend and help man the booth you'll have an opportunity
to share information about your own services and efforts in the
context of the open source project. This fits in nicely with the whole
"I am Open For Business" idea and it is an opportunity for various of
us to get together and have a co-marketing experience.
If you can't personally attend but would like to be involved there are
other opportunities. For example you could help with designing and
printing signage (good high quality stuff preferably), or you could
design some "swag" and have it produced and we'll have it available at
the conference. For either of these things, as with other things in
the booth, the central theme is of course OFBiz, but you can of course
include something like "Brought to You by Foo Bar Incorporated" and/or
your logo and such. If you want to work with other service providers,
please send a message out to the community and find other people and/
or organizations to help share the cost and effort involved. Just one
request: please submit all designs to the PMC BEFORE you send them out
for production since it will be the PMCs decision about what is okay
or not (and yes, I'm happy to not take on that decision myself... ;) ).
In any case, the point of all of this is to work together as a
community to help promote the open source project. Let's work together
and present something nice to the world and help them understand just
how amazing OFBiz is!
