Thanks Ashish, I think I didn't ask my question quite specifically enough, so have 2 more questions.
1) Can I set up the party manager in such a way that multiple users can upload their own products to their own catalogs using parties and roles? 2) I set up the role of a party as "Manufacturer" so, does that mean there is a manufacturer portal page that features actions a "Manufacturer" can perform?
