I'm not aware of any bugs that are blocking a release, there may be bugs but 
not blocking ones.

No, the release branch was created 4 months ago.  There was never a planned 
release date, generally it's just when the community thinks it is ready and 
someone is willing to put the time in to do all the necessary release tasks.
