Hi Pierre, My personal experience with BIRT references includes:
1) Practical Data Analysis and Reporting with BIRT by John Ward 2) BIRT a field guide 3rd edition 3) "BIRT Report Object Model – Expressions and Scripting" This is a free PDF document in eclipse's website, but extremely useful for advanced scripting features in eclipse. My 2 cents if worth it!
