I was looking a Classifications.
For example, if one has a set of SIC_Codes or Industries, is there a way
to have both French and English and have the right code description
shown depending on the user's language?

As a I read your posting I would say that in such case it doesn't depend on
the user, but on the receiving party. Italian documents for the Italian
customer, and such.
You might try the same route as described above. Here in the Netherlands we
have a less complex approach. We use the official name and the official
addresses. Postal workers can work it out.
You are right.
Europeans are much more flexible than Americans when it comes to language.
Québecois(e) can be pretty tough on sales organizations that do not take
the trouble to appear to be local.
The system should contain both languages and make it easy to extract the
"right" text from a field without having a duplicate entity.

My address has 2 versions - try sending a return address of 14667 rue
Lirette, bureau 5 to an American client and see what you get back and its
Montréal not Montreal in Quebec.
Is there a general solution for this?
