Thanks. The base registers can vary per country, and thus the postcodes
(see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_postal_codes).

In the Netherlands we can validate a complete set of address details by
solely providing a postcode, a house number and a house number addition.

I don't know whether other countries have the same approaches. And some
countries don't even use postcodes (see:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postal_code).

I do know that there are service providers out there providing access to
their apis, but most often that comes with a price. And there aren't many
client side solutions available in Java and/or Groovy. But there are plenty
written in PHP for other web solutions (e-Commerce plugins). It is a pity
that we can't exploit that more (e.g. with a <event type=“php”
path="component://phpcomponentl/script/php/phpcodefile.php”/>
