I don't know the difference between stable and trunk demo, I just downloaded the zip file from official Ofbiz website (ofbiz.apache.org). which is now avail in Apache archive website: http://archive.apache.org/dist/ofbiz. the problem also exists in this website : demo-stable-ofbiz.apache.org which I think is the stable demo you mentioned.
