Hi all,

here is my personal report about ApacheCon US 2015.

I arrived on Sunday, after one week spent in Salt Lake City @ Hotwax
headquarters with Anil and Mike, and we left on Friday.

The conference of the Apache Software Foundation was, as usual, well managed
and a great chance to meet in person a lot of ASF fellow members, committers,
contributors and friends.
I was pleased to meet in person Adrian for the first time and to see again
Hans, Ean and Adam after 7 years (we met the first time @ ApacheCon US New
Orleans in 2008).
Sakthi was a pleasant surprise for me because I didn't know him: his
presentation was interesting and he shared a lot of valuable information in a
clear way; Sakthi's knowledge of OFBiz is really deep and I hope to see him
more and more involved with the project.
I also met and spent some valuable time with Darrell ([email protected]):
he is a very smart person that works with OFBiz since a few years and
implemented an amazing project on it. These are the user stories I like to
hear!!! I hope Darrell will be more and more involved in OFBiz as well.
At the bar, restaurant, during coffee breaks etc... we had some chats about
ideas for the project, its tools, etc... but, frankly speaking, while I always
love to talk about OFBiz with people that are as passionate as me for it, this
is the part that is less important in such meetings: technical details and
plans are better discussed in the mailing list where there is a wider audience,
an archive/log, and more time to think and research.

Apart from OFBizers, I also met several other friends and "colleagues" at ASF
and the conversations with them have been pleasant and valuable.
Not to mention the great time I spent with Anil and Mike, my partners at Hotwax.

Austin was a surprise: it was my first time in Texas, and I was expecting a dry
city in the desert where a vegetarian like me could starve :-) but I have found
a warm, nice, green city with a beautiful river (Colorado, the view from my
hotel room at the 8th floor was terrific)... and the food was also very good!

Regards,

Jacopo
