Thanks Roux ,
I was in fact looking for the sandbox functionality provided by
https://demo-trunk.ofbiz.apache.org/
<https://demo-trunk.ofbiz.apache.org/accounting/control/EditTaxAuthorityRateProducts?taxAuthPartyId=FRA_TA&taxAuthGeoId=FRA>
glad to know it now.
I had gone through http://markmail.org/message/rethx5jomtil36ny before
but it did not mention any url. I feel that url can be put in some
documentation
(may be :
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBENDUSER/How+to+Install+OFBiz+without+the+Demo+Data
)
Good idea, I'll put it at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/OFBiz's+Tax+Authority+Data+Model
Related to that, while attempting to create the sandbox in my premise i
observed that the
-o,--portoffset <offset> Offsets all default ports for OFBiz
does not work for me as expected . I used -o 1000 and expected that
proxypass'ing to
9080 backend would work , but it was'nt so. The screen was visually broken.
eventually i had to serve it from a new container (with separate ip).
Shall i file a JIRA issue if i am not missing anything.
No thanks, this feature works well for years and is used on our demos (eg try
the old demo - Management Apps - from http://ofbiz.apache.org/)
You will not get to backend using HTTP and a 9080 port. You should get:
FF: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG
Chrome: ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR
For 2 years OFBiz uses only HTTPS, so to get to your backend use eg:
https://localhost:9443/catalog

Hi Ramesh,
(2) Is it possible to set tax rate on individual product types / products
?
Yes, check out the TaxAuthorityRateProduct (TARP) entity. Note that
products in OFBiz can belong to many different categories, so if necessary
you could define a "taxable" category for TARP that is separate from
categories people might use for searching for a product.

Hi ,
I was evaluating some open source erps applications and I liked Ofbiz
and
almost settled
for it for following reasons.
Pros:
====
(1) Active development ( versus opentaps , last news was of 2015)
(2) Flexibility of using (my) database of choice (i.e. PostgreSQL) (
versus , erpNext , that is currently MySQL only)
(3) Availability of API interfacing ( WebServices )
(4) Truely open source ( many of open source ERP come with bare minimum
free versions
and more useful full fledged
version
)
(5) useful OOTB
(6) commercial support option is avaliable .
( I see that some companies provide consulting and many in
India).
Cons:
=====
(1) the UI is not responsive , neither there is a mobile app.
At this moment i have some questions and appreciate answers:
(1) Is OOTB support for handling Taxes in Indian context available ,
specially GST ?
(2) Is it possible to set tax rate on individual product types /
products ?
