It had been throwing an error here about a .class file not being valid that was 
buried in multiple loops of the /proc filesystem.  Like 15 repeats of /proc/….. 
down.  The file was actually in my home directory.  I removed the file and now 
it is just hung here.  My assumption is that for some reason it is repeatedly 
looping the /proc folder.  Does that seem accurate and if so, what would I do 
about it?
