The check and fetch run daily, when the user is log in.
I suggest the minor feature: - The chack time (actually 1day) may
be variable by administrator

priority, though. If you want, you can patch it manually [2], time in
seconds.

This may not work as thought, because it requires the users to have
logged in once. It is because the avatar is placed in the user home
folder which only is ready upon first login.
Ok, it's true. When the user has not log in before, no home directory... :(
