Hello, just checked with thunderbird (on OS X), iOS Mail and MS Outlook. None of them is displaying gif file defined in "core/templates/mail.php". All of them show alternative text > ownCloud.
Is it working for you?If not, wouldn't it be a good idea to include that image base64 encoded in email?
