Hello Peter,

I have made the such upgrade last week, and I have follow this process

Start : 5.0.12 from Opensuse repository

1st step : Upgrade to 5.0.14a from Debian (I take the .deb from debian archive, owncloud and all dependencies)
2 step : Upgrade to 6.0.3+dfsg-2~bpo70+1 (same thing from debian archive)
3 step : Upgrade to 7.0.2+dfsg-1~bpo70+2 from Debian Wheezy Backports

End : 7.0.2+dfsg-1~bpo70+2 from Debian Wheezy Backports

And the database is correctly upgraded without loosing information. The only problem was the shares that I have to re-create

My 2 cents

Regards.

I am using an install onto the EC2.

It comes with Version 5.0.12 of ownCloud

When I try to do an 'apt-cache showpkg owncloud' the only version
available is 7.0.4-3

The repository is: http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... Debian_7.0

Trying to go from 5 to 7 causes big issues (found that our from the forums).

Unfortunately I cannot seem to get the Package Manager to co-operate and
download version 6 which I then could upgrade to version 7. If I try to
remove the 5.0.12 package and then install 7.0.4 ownCloud doesn’t seem
to recognize that I upgraded and when I try to log in tries to upgrade
which then locks out the system.

I am certainly no expert at Linux which may account for my problems with
this.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Peter
