Thanks for this.  But what I was really looking for was a way of
curing it.  What I did:

 - exported the database and recreated it

 - disconnected all clients and reconnected after a time.

And the problem went away.  Is that the "right" thing to do under
these circumstances?

And do I really need a MySQL server running all the time when I
only have a couple of hundred files and a not very extensive
calendar in ownCloud?
