I use Mac OS X ...

It sounds like resource forks from really old Mac OS (without X).

I use OC without such problems on OS X. Which type are these files?
e.g. old Postscript Fonts stored everything in the resource fork, but AFAIK 
newer files should not use resource forks anymore. But it’s used maybe for 
metadata like tags or colors (from finder).
