 pardon my ignorance, but isn't pictures (i.e. the piece of software
 living in "{oc_root}/aps/gallery") a core component and as such not to
 be replaced, at least not if one cares about trouble-free operation?

 Looking in the backend, I see Pictures (0.6.0) marked as "official"
 (and no caveats mentioned in its very short description),  while
 "Gallery+" is only "verified" and comes with a long paragraph with
 warnings what doesn't work or can go wrong.  Not very assuring.

 Is it possible to downgrade from Gallery+ to official Picture app, if
 things go wrong, or is replacing such a core feature a one-way action?
