Hi James, Thanks for the prompt answer. This means that phoenix fat client uses the jars on the workers. So basically there are phoenix processes running on the worker nodes.
So more work for us ☺ --yunus From: James Taylor [mailto:jamestay...@apache.org] Sent: dinsdag 4 april 2017 18:10 To: user@phoenix.apache.org Cc: Luong, B. <b.lu...@accenture.com>; cr...@bothware.com; olu.j...@bigdms.com Subject: Re: Can we simply update fat Java client without jar updates on workers? Hi Yunus, No, unfortunately that won't work between minor releases. The server side needs to be upgraded (first) followed by the client side. See here [1] for more info. Upgrading HDP is not an option since it affects too many people. We don’t want to upgrade HDP manually either by upgrading the phoenix jars on the worker nodes. That violates hortonworks contract. So we think that maybe just updating the fat jar client in our APIs simply work. We are not using the phoenix query server and if all the logic is in this fat client, we simply don’t have to upgrade the servers. Or we don’t know how Phoenix works.. Could you please enlighten us?
