The Apache Phoenix team announces the end of development of Apache Phoenix for Apache HBase 1.x versions.
Since the release of Phoenix 5.0 in 2018, Phoenix has supported both the legacy HBase 1.x versions with its 4.x releases , and the current HBase 2.x versions with its 5.x releases. >From now on the team will focus its efforts on the 5.x versions for HBase 2.x, and cease development of the 4.x version for Hbase 1.x. The last version to support Hbase 1.x is the already released Phoenix 4.16.1. There are no further 4.x or 4.16.x releases planned. The Phoenix team recommends that users still on Hbase 1.x upgrade to the latest HBase GA version (currently 2.4), and to the latest Phoenix 5.x release (currently 5.1.2) Thanks, Istvan Toth (on behalf of the Apache Phoenix team)
