It means that if any error happens it will be logged into that specific file pig_1304154871723.log, did you check that file? And it says that it is connecting locally "to hadoop file system at: file:///". The part "file:///" means it is using the local file system as its file system. And what do you mean by you not being able to see grunt? You don´t get to see "grunt>"??
