The loader side is in production at Twitter. We've used the storage part, but it's not routinely used. I am not aware of significant issues with HBaseStorage in pig trunk; some features are outstanding, but other than that, I think most complaints we get are about jar management (which is mostly solved in trunk and pig 9, iirc). Do file tickets if you run into problems!
