pivot widgets

I was thinking about FlyingSaucer and a XHTML textareas.  Then I was 
comparing the widgets that are in Swing & JavaFX versus Pivot this week and 
began wondering "why create a whole new widget library"?

If WTKX was used to lay out Swing controls and define/bind event-handlers, 
then you wouldn't have to build a whole new widget library.

Is it because Swing controls cant be treated as beans?

Do people think that Swing will go away?
