OK, sounds like so far there is agreement that we should preserve the existing 
Tab/focus transfer behavior but add (possibly configurable) support for 
Ctrl-Tab to insert tab spaces. Anyone else want to comment?

BTW Sandro, Shift-Tab to transfer focus backwards is already supported.
