One thing that came up a few weeks ago was the possibility of automating the build process and producing regular snapshots which would be available for download.
The infrastructure seems to be available and ready if anyone on the list has some experience with Jenkins (or any other tools listed here http://ci.apache.org) and a willingness to help out.
