It probably depends on what the content is, whether this would be necessary.  
Most of the low-level components have a certain "natural" size based on font 
size (for TextInput) or icon size (for RadioButton, Checkbox, ImageView, etc.). 
 Containers can either wrap their contents and thus be sized based on their 
contents, or conform to their containers and provide a size for their contents.

So, we'd have to see exactly what the layout was to say for sure why this is 
the case.
