When using SAXParser to parse xlsx file, blank cells are skipped. https://poi.apache.org/spreadsheet/how-to.html#xssf_sax_api has a note regarding this as follow: One important thing to note with the basic Event API is that it triggers events only for things actually stored within the file. With the XLSX file format, it is quite common for things that have yet to be edited to simply not exist in the file. This means there may well be apparent "gaps" in the record stream, which you need to work around.
