Andi put a lot of work into crypto in 3.16-beta1. I'm glad to hear it worked for you.
The trunk (currently targeting 3.16-beta2) is just a few small commits ahead of 3.16-beta1-RC1. I would expect them to perform the same with respect to encryption.
