This is not on POI, but solely Microsoft UI programming. As far as I understand, the file format supports longer sheet names and better programs also are able to use those -- but MS Excel UI would throw problems and also silently trim the names (when entered or read from file?). Also: the problem was not about the trimming itself, but rather on trimming SILENTLY and with COLLISIONS. Warm regards Andreas
