Do any of these developers actually begin with an empty/vanilla environment?
I have had nothing but problem after problem with Ranger. In fact a number of apache projects have caused build headaches long before we are at the point where we can install and run the software. Missing dependencies, missing or obsolete artifacts. Never mind the fact that documentation is also painfully out of date, incorrect or just missing. It is also laughable that the 'documentation' declares no binaries for Ranger...after 10 years? This software also has an extremely low response from the forums. The docker build has the outdated docker-compose instead of the new docker compose, and we run into issues with mvn trying to copy from non-existent directories and failing resulting in a checksum error. With the mvn build, it just fails early on with enforcer issues and somewhere along the line when ran with -Denforcer.skip=true tag. When we try the specific version that the enforcer is asking for, it still gives errors and fails. Is there any specific mvn, java, docker, etc version that it has been tested with for RHEL that we could use? Also, are there any prerequisites if we want to use ranger with a non-hadoop system?
