Hi Lune,
In 2.3.2, we didn’t have the support of syncing groups with no members or
users that are part of the user search. We added this support recently as part
of (RANGER-869). Once you add a new group and add any user to be member of that
new group, then the group should be sync’d at the next sync cycle without a
restart.

Thanks,
Sailaja.

Subject: usersync - frequency of synchronization actions ?

hello !

I'm using HDP 2.3.2 and I send you this mail because I have a stange behaviour
with usersync.

I thought usersync was updating every 30s (from
ranger.usersync.sleeptimeinmillisbetweensynccycle)

But it is not the case.

In order to verify that, I created a new group, then I waited 30s, and then I
checked in the Ambari Admin UI if the group was foundable, and it was not.

When I restart usersync, the group will be found if at least one user is a
member of the group. Usersync is not able to retrieve groups without member
users.

Question 1 - I wanted to know if it was the attended behaviour of usersync ?
Question 2 - Is it possible to have it update regularly without being forced to
restart it ?
Question 3 - Is it possible to have it sync the groups from the ldap, even the
empty ones ?

BR.

Lune.
