I have put together a Wicket-Shiro integration library that has worked well for my small projects. It's been built from the ground up for Wicket 1.5.
Although it is not a "generally accepted" solution, it may give you some ideas about how Wicket and Shiro can work together. Here's the main doc: <http://opensource.55minutes.com/apidocs/fiftyfive-wicket-all/3.0-SNAPSHOT/index.html?fiftyfive/wicket/shiro/package-summary.html> Docs for the various markup components: <http://opensource.55minutes.com/apidocs/fiftyfive-wicket-all/3.0-SNAPSHOT/index.html?fiftyfive/wicket/shiro/markup/package-summary.html> Source code: <http://opensource.55minutes.com/svn/java/trunk/fiftyfive-wicket/fiftyfive-wicket-shiro/> This is still a work in progress (most notably, it is lacking test coverage) so I'd greatly appreciate your feedback. Feel free to email me directly.
