The output you show at 2015-10-24 18:14:39,614 looks like typical Zookeeper output to me. The Zookeeper I use to develop Storm I actually installed as part of Apache Kafka. The Kafka QuickStart at http://kafka.apache.org/documentation.html#quickstart showed a bit more about starting a local Zookeeper instance than what I saw on Storm. I actually start the Zookeeper instance that came with the Kafka download for both Kafka and Storm. Kafka included a script and a config file for the Zookeeper instance (referenced by the Kafka QuickStart Documentation ) at you could use to better understand what is happening.
