Custom metrics not showing up in storm U - Storm version 1.1.0

I am using the storm API to define and register custom metrics for the bolt. 
But I am not getting any stats about that metrics either in the Storm UI or the 
REST API? Do I need to do anything to make the custom metrics show up in the 
UI/REST API?
