We are using Storm to create an order event processing pipeline. It is basically a chain that consists of a spout and a few bolts. Our performance tests indicate that for some order events, there are huge delays (around 3 seconds) between after an order event is emitted from the spout's nextTuple method and when the event is received and the execute method of the next bolt gets called. The delays are not observed between any bolts after that.
Any hints as to what can be the causes of the delay?
