First, it is usually in the main directory, not in the ./lib directory. Second, that file should be named "hibernate2.jar", not "hibernate2.ja" as you emailed. I've seen that file in that very location in at least 3 versions of Hibernate that I can recall clearly: versions 2.0.3, 2.1.2, and 2.1.3.
