You should search google for the best results. You'll get articles, javadocs, and/or mailing list posts. That's what I generally use. The results will include mail-archive if applicable.
I don't know what it is about "date" that you wanted, but here's what I would search for if I needed help with validating dates in my struts app:
google search: "struts validating dates"

Before I submit questions to the list I try to search the archives. However, I often get "no matches were found" on a very generic search, eg. "date". Is there a problem or am I doing something wrong?
