When I was getting started with Struts I found "Struts In Action" by Ted N. Husted, Cedric Dumoulin, George Franciscus, David Winterfeldt published Manning to be a really great book. Here is the url to the book: https://secure.manning.com/husted
There are sample chapters, but the chapters are too late in the book to really let you see the use of the book.
