nested:checkbox question

Hi there. I have a nested object where one of its properties is a string 
representing on|off. When converting it to a form I'm using a 
nested:checkbox as shown:

<nested:checkbox property="state"/>
Problem is, it should be checked when it's on, and unchecked when off, 
and it's not working. How can I achive this?
