GMail also has a Basic HTML version that doesn't rely on JavaScript. Both versions use what they call a "Conversation View" to group messages. It's not really a hierarchy, but it does group all of the messages on a particular subject together. They're strictly in sequence, though, rather than being in a tree based on which message was actually being replied to.
