Setting debug="99" (doubtful it does anything different over a 9) on a JSP containing the line
<%= request.getSession(true).getId() %> resulted in output like this: Jul 26, 2005 11:41:28 PM org.apache.catalina.session.ManagerBase log INFO: readObject() loading session 3E8AA5B6D30D825FAD686145AAE0EA55 Jul 26, 2005 11:41:28 PM org.apache.catalina.session.ManagerBase log INFO: readObject() loading session 61AC8BB0FA61AF4804049181F09A59CE Those lines seem to indicate I'm right about the ManagerBase creating the session.
