I don't know what a '1.3 FOP formatted document' is. The PDF's produced by jasperreports-1.0.1.jar begin with %PDF 1.4 (or something similar that contains 'PDF' and '1.4').
It renders my country's (Croatia) specific characters (šđčćč) correctly, and the JFreeChart graph images look nice too. Pdf and Xls(Excel) outputs look really nice - no one could complain about those. Jasperreports Html output doesn't look good - I'll have to use use JSP + JFreeChart to make nice HTML output.
