And if I might add something, making a lower entry barrier is what has
allowed Microsoft to roll up developers and market share with what has
been (IMHO) an inferior product that also has the temerity to lock you
into a platform that is both expensive and unsafe at any bandwidth.

(Of course, lowering the entry barrier sometimes attracts people who
have no business coding, but that's another point entirely.)
