I has started to learn S2 a few months ago and then got sidetracked. I'm willing to tackle the learning curve, but I have a very basic question:

I notice that many people are combining S2 with Spring. I don't know anything about Spring; I had thought that Spring was another framework, and that you would use either S2 or Spring but not both. Clearly my understanding is incorrect. Could someone explain why you would use S2+Spring? I'm assuming that if I use S2, Spring is optional? (i.e. do I need to commit to a Spring learning curve AND an S2 learning curve?)
