This is caused by missing dependencies.
Copy
commons-fileupload-1.1.1.jar
commons-io-1.1.jar
from the showcase war.

Recommended changes to the distribution
These two files should be included in the /lib directory update wiki 
pages to explicitly mention dependencies.
