I'm having such a wide range of reactions to this. I'll stick with saying just ask questions on the list and not directly to list participants unless you have an existing relationship with them.

That's unlikely. If you're getting a 404 then I'd run through the typical steps for debugging a web application. I'd also try creating your *own* minimal S2 application as a sanity check.
