Yes, I'm aware of that requirement.

Unfortunately, no it's not supported. It's one of the things I wanted
to do right from the beginning, but haven't managed to do since it
would require quite a big change in the tags/components in the core.
With JSR286 this is of course even more important since the new spec
makes it easier to write AJAX-portlets. "id" is not a big issue since
you can pass it in by yourself, but I guess "name" would be harder to
namespace. But as you know, JSR286 is currently work in progress, so
I'll have to put it on my list (or even better, register a JIRA
issue). Patches (not only to this issue) are also very welcome :)
