Thanks for the suggestion, Lukasz. That's one of the things that I tried, but couldn't get it to work for me. I need the braces to appear as such in the generated page as it's part of a javascript expression.

I found a workable solution in:

"this is a test: $\{0\}"


but was hoping there might be a better way.
