If you are referring to included/imported schema's you can/should specify
them all in a single validate mediator.

Well, to be precious that depends on the message builder that you are using
for the incoming content type, but if you are to do a schema validation it
probably is XML and has to be built as XML so in effect yes the
ApplicationXML builder will fail to build the message.
