I think Gopal and/or Prakash had use a simple proxying script that could be used to get around the CORS issue. @Gopal/@Prakash ?
As for Ambari, Ambari supports something called ??standalone-mode??. You can install the Ambari rpm, bring up the ambari server UI ( skip the install cluster and just go to manage views ) and instantiate the Tez view by configuring it to point the correct locations for the RM and Timeline Server.
