Thanks, Nick. I swapped in tika-app-1.2-20120528.050306-57.jar and the issue 
seems to be resolved. The project is building and testing correctly on Ubuntu 
12.04 x32 and x64 as well as Windows 7 x32 and x64.

Can you try with a recent nightly build / svn checkout? IIRC the mp4
related fixes went in after Tika 1.1, so it might well be fixed already
