Mark - Perhaps you are new to programming and not yet aware of this, but common sense and courtesy dictates that when you ask for help (especially in the case of open source software such as Tika, where most people are donating their free time to help you), you give as much context as is helpful, such as what are you trying to do, what are the inputs, what is your runtime environment, Tika version, etc. Also that you try to solve the problem yourself, and (when helpful) say what you've already tried and what happened.
